Suspect shoots man during attempted hotel robbery | Crime

Raines Station officers responded to a shooting at the American Inn located at 3265 Elvis Presley at approximately 11:06 p.m. on July 21.

Officers discovered 18-year-old Dipesh Patel had been shot inside the business. He was taken to The Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Patel is now listed in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that around 10:55 p.m. on July 21, a black male described as 35 to 40 years old, approached the outside check-in window and demanded money from the victim. The suspect was wearing a blue bandana on his face, white hat, white shirt and blue jeans.

As the victim turned to run, the male suspect fired one round striking the victim in the back.

Safe Streets Task Force is currently in charge of the investigation.
