Man charged with gas station murder | Crime
(WMC-TV) - A Memphis man has been arrested for a shooting that killed one person and sent another to the hospital Wednesday.
Officers on patrol heard gunshots around 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Winchester and Millbranch.
They spotted an armed man running through a gas station parking lot as they pulled into the business, according to a department spokesperson.
Officers arrested the man after a brief chase and identified him as Travis Tate.
Police say Tate shot his victims after an argument broke out.
Demarkis Smith, 27, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim, whose name hasn't been released, was treated and released.
Tate has been charged with first degree murder and attempted first degree murder.
