State offers money to build Blues Trail | Transportation

(WMC-TV) - The state government has approved more than a quarter of a million dollars to add a little history to Highway 61.

The Highway 61 Blues Trail, which runs through Tennessee and Mississippi, promotes the importance of the genre to Mid-South culture and history.

The money will be used to add landscaping, markers, art and crosswalks on an 11 mile section of the road. Work will start at the highway's intersection with Crump and run to the Mississippi state line.

The nearly $286,000 grant was awarded by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
