Another round of snow grazes Mid-South

The Mid-South dealt with it's third round of snow in as many weeks Thursday.

This round was not as problematic as the last two. Most schools remained open after the system moved out and snowfall totals ranged from a light dusting to as much as three inches in Lauderdale and Chester Counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that takes effect at 6 p.m. Tuesday and lasts until 3 a.m. Wednesday.

TDOT running low on salt for roads

An earlier, colder and snowier winter season has the Tennessee Department of Transportation implementing new strategies to conserve resources during snow and ice removal operations. Winter weather started affecting Tennessee roads in November of last year and TDOT’s arsenal of salt is being used at a faster rate than our supplier can replenish reserves.

The winter weather might be slowing down us amateur drivers, but it’s not giving the pros any problems.

Here’s more information from MATA:

“At this time, there are no major weather related detours or delays in the MATA service area. Fixed route, MATAplus and trolley service are running at this time.”

The Mid-South is dealing with it's second round of winter weather in as many weeks.

Fortunately, this round is not as significant as the last round. Snow is blanketing much of the Action News 5 coverage area Thursday afternoon but snowfall amounts are much less than last time.
